Argonne Student Council

​Run by students and staff, the Student Council has a long history at Argonne. It's a great way to learn leadership skills, build community and foster collaboration.

The Student Council
  • Teacher Organizers: Ms. Cox, Mr. Ostrand
  • President 
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Assistant Secretary 
  • Upper Games Coordinator
  • Lower Games Coordinator
  • 6 class representatives: 2 students from each grade – 3rd through 5th grades

Roles & Responsibilities
(Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade can participate in the Student Council.)
  • President (5th grade): Represents for all students. May help with school announcements and leading meetings. 
  • Vice President (4th grade): Takes over when President is absent. May help with school announcements and leading meetings.
  • Secretary (4th or 5th grade): Takes notes during SC meetings. Keeps track of voting, attendance, etc.
  • Assistant Secretary (3rd grade): Takes notes at SC meetings. Fills in for Secretary if they are absent.
  • Upper Games Coordinator (4th grade or 5th grade): Takes out recess equipment and puts it away for the 4th/5th recess. May lead activities.
  • Lower Games Coordinator (3rd grade): Takes out recess equipment and puts it away for the 2nd/3rd grade recess. 
  • 6 Class Representatives (3rd-5th): 2 students from every 3rd-5th class will attend meetings and report back to their classroom and their "Buddies Class"
 
Timeline
  • November 3: Last day for teachers to send names of candidates (1 for each role) to Ms. Cox / Mr. Ostrand
  • November 3: Last day for teachers to pass out a poster to each candidate; candidates start writing their speech
  • November 4: All candidates introduce themselves at Clap-In
  • November 4: Posters should be completed and hung up in 1st floor hallway
  • November 18: Candidate speeches and electronic voting during school
 
Student Council will start meeting after Fall Recess. :)
