Update on Extended Year

Thank you to all the parents and staff who put so much time, heart and energy into saving Extended Year for Argonne. Unfortunately, the district's various scenarios they put together did not offer any viable options -- all requiring the site to pay for Extended Year out of our already reduced site budget and not allowing teachers any non-service days. While this is a huge loss for our school, we are grateful for our passionate community and look forward to emerging from this stronger as we work together to continue highlighting what makes Argonne so special.  

What is Extended Year?

Argonne’s school year starts in July and the students participate in approximately one month of additional instruction. Starting in August, Argonne follows the standard SFUSD school calendar.

The Benefits of Extended Year Education 
It’s great for everyone! Teachers have more time to focus on providing enrichment activities and project-based learning, while students stay more engaged with their learning throughout the year decreasing summer learning loss.

2026-2027 School Year

Fall / Spring Session: August 17, 2026 – June 2, 2027
Argonne follows the standard SFUSD school calendar with the same breaks and holidays.

2027-2028 School Year

Fall / Spring Session: August 16, 2027 – June 1, 2028
Argonne follows the standard SFUSD school calendar with the same breaks and holidays.
