Arrival
Walk, bike or drive! The yard opens at 7:30am at the 17th Ave gate. Plan ahead and arrive early.
All perimeter doors and gates at Argonne are locked from 7:50am – 2:05pm (Wednesdays from 7:50am-12:50pm). During school hours, please ring the bell on the 18th Ave entrance to enter.
Students are considered tardy after 7:51am. If you arrive after classes have gone inside, students must get a tardy slip from the front office.
If you are driving, please give yourself time to find parking or use Stop, Drop & Go (SDG) on 17th Ave. Please be safe:

Students attending an onsite after school program should go directly to the following locations for check-in:
Students taking Special Education or after school busses will go to the Cabrillo Ave gate.
Students being picked up by a parent or caregiver will go to the following areas to meet their adult:
- DO NOT double park on 17th Ave or 18th Ave
- DO NOT park in the bus zone on Cabrillo
- DO NOT block driveways
Students attending an onsite after school program should go directly to the following locations for check-in:
- CASP: Main Yard outside of 1st grade classrooms
- TRNC: Main Yard outside on the Kickball field
- YMCA: Multipurpose Room
Students taking Special Education or after school busses will go to the Cabrillo Ave gate.
Students being picked up by a parent or caregiver will go to the following areas to meet their adult:
- Kindergarten students are dismissed from the Kindergarten Yard on 18th Ave.
- 1st-5th graders are dismissed from the 17th Ave gate.
Absences
The parent/caregiver is responsible for ensuring their child gets to school daily. And we encourage parents/guardians/caregivers to review their student's attendance record regularly and communicate any discrepancies to the school.
If your child is going to miss school, the parent/ guardian/caregiver must communicate with the school in one of the following ways before or on the day of the absence:
In all communications with the school regarding a student's absence, please provide the following:
For excused absences:
Students and Families can learn more about SFUSD Attendance Policies in the Student and Family Handbook for Excused Absences.
If your child is going to miss school, the parent/ guardian/caregiver must communicate with the school in one of the following ways before or on the day of the absence:
- Log in to ParentVue and report excused absences using their online system (list of valid excused absences). If you are not sure if the absence is excused, report the reason and Ms. Sara Coffey will either accept or deny the absence based upon SFUSD accepted excuses.
- Email your child's teacher and cc [email protected]
- Call the school office at 415.750.8460. Leave a message if the phone is not answered.
- Written note submitted to Argonne's front office.
In all communications with the school regarding a student's absence, please provide the following:
- Your name and identify yourself as the parent/guardian/caregiver of the student
- Student’s name
- Student's room number and/or teacher
- Date(s) of the absence(s)
- Reason for the absence
- Signature of a parent/caregiver and current date (if a written note)
For excused absences:
- Families DO NOT need to submit doctor’s notes for illness to receive an excused absence.
- The student will receive an unexcused absence if the parent/caregiver does not submit communication for a valid excused absence.
- A parent/guardian/caregiver of the student can submit a request for excused absence anytime during the school year.
- It is important that the front office is aware of all student absences, and this is especially important if the absence is due to Covid-19 close contact concerns, Covid symptoms, or positive test results.

Meals
School meals are free for all SFUSD students.
Save time and money by having your children take advantage of free school meals! Their participation keeps Federal funds here in San Francisco and supports the meal program to improve and expand. Monthly menus are available here.
Meals are provided in the multi-purpose room:
If you are sending your child with a snack or lunch, keep in mind our district and school healthy foods guidelines and choose alternatives to soda, candy, or chips. Also, we are asking that all families avoid sending nuts and nut products as we have several students with severe nut allergies.
If you bring food to share (potluck, birthday celebration, etc.), please clearly list these following common food allergens if they are an ingredient:
