Russian Language and Culture

Every kindergartner through 2nd grade student at Argonne receives Russian instruction two times per week. Each year we will add one grade level to the program, such that all grades will be enrolled by 2012.

Argonne is located amidst a strong Russian community in the Richmond district and benefits from the rich culture and tradition this community has to offer.

Research has shown that learning a second language improves a students aptitude in many ways. Learning a language promotes flexibility in thinking and enhances the ability to listen. It enriches mental development and can improve the way a child understands abstract concepts because objects and words are described and understood in new ways. It improves a person's understanding of their own language and opens many doors for young people.
